Ford Recalls 2026 Broncos: Metal Burr Could Tear Side-Curtain Airbags

By CARC Editorial Team · October 19, 2026 · 3 min read

Ford is recalling 2,711 2026 Broncos after discovering that a mounting bracket on the right-side curtain airbag may have a metal burr that can tear the airbag during deployment. Dealers will increase the space between the bracket and the airbag to remove the contact condition, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners went out September 15, with the final remedy anticipated in October 2026.

The Bronco is one of several October Ford recalls. Also on the books: 11,405 2026 Rangers whose screens may lose power and fail to display the rearview camera image (remedy under development; interim letters mailed October 5); 2023–2025 Mustang Mach-E crossovers (86 units) where battery energy control module software may show an incorrect state of charge or raise the risk of a high-voltage battery fire after repeated DC fast charging — dealers will update the software free, with the final remedy anticipated in December 2026; and 7 2026 Explorers needing passenger airbag module replacements.

It’s a busy recall month for Ford across the board, including the larger F-150 fuel-tank-strap campaign (223,472 trucks) and the Super Duty/Expedition headlight LED recall (41,748 vehicles). If you own a recent Ford, run your VIN through NHTSA’s free recall lookup — several of these campaigns have remedies still rolling out.
