Hyundai Recalls 94,622 Genesis and G80 Sedans Over Fire Risk

Hyundai Motor America is recalling 94,622 vehicles in the United States over a fire risk linked to overheating front power seat motors, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on October 15, 2026.

According to NHTSA, the front power seat motors may overheat if the power seat control switch sticks, which can result in a fire while the vehicle is parked or being driven. The affected vehicles include certain 2015–2016 Hyundai Genesis and 2017–2020 Genesis G80 sedans.

Hyundai has advised owners to park their vehicles outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the repair is performed. NHTSA said the recall remedy is currently being developed.

If you own one of these vehicles, check your VIN on NHTSA's recall lookup site or contact your Genesis/Hyundai dealer. Recalls are always repaired free of charge — and a vehicle with an open fire-risk recall is worth less on the market, so getting it fixed protects both your safety and your resale value.
