Pilot and Tesla Open First Megacharger Site for Electric Trucks in Georgia

Pilot, the North American travel-center network, and Tesla have opened their first Tesla Megacharger site at a Pilot location in Ellabell, Georgia. The opening marks the launch of a new charging network at select Pilot travel centers, built specifically to support heavy-duty electric trucks along major U.S. freight corridors.
The Megacharger is Tesla’s high-power charging system designed for its Semi truck — delivering far higher charge rates than its passenger-car Superchargers. Pairing it with Pilot’s highway footprint is a practical play: truck charging lives or dies on location, and travel centers already sit where long-haul routes, parking and driver amenities converge.
The bigger picture: electric heavy-duty trucking has been held back as much by charging infrastructure as by the trucks themselves. A dedicated Megacharger network along freight corridors would address the two hardest problems at once — where a truck charges and how fast. For fleet operators watching Tesla Semi adoption, the network’s rollout pace now matters as much as the vehicle specs.
No timeline or full site count for the broader network was disclosed. But the first site going live in Georgia — near the Port of Savannah’s logistics corridor — suggests the network is starting where freight demand is densest.
