2027 Volkswagen Atlas Pricing: $41,610 to $56,610, On Sale Now, With a Five-Seat Cross Sport Coming

The 2027 Volkswagen Atlas is on sale in October 2026 as a midsize three-row SUV with front- or all-wheel drive and seating for six or seven. Pricing before the $1,525 destination charge runs from $41,610 for the SE front-wheel-drive model, through $43,610 for the SE 4Motion, $45,610 and $47,610 for the SE with Tech in front- and all-wheel drive, $52,110 for the SEL R-Line 4Motion, and $56,610 for the SEL Premium R-Line 4Motion. A stylish five-passenger Atlas Cross Sport with most of the same features should arrive in early 2027.

Every Atlas uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder making 282 hp and 258 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic, with EPA-estimated fuel economy of 20 mpg city, 27 highway and 23 combined on regular gasoline. It offers 21.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, 55.9 behind the second and 95.4 behind the front row, tows up to 5,000 pounds, and is assembled in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Standard safety equipment is comprehensive: front collision alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane keeping alert and assist, lane centering, assisted lane changes, blind-spot alert and assist, front and rear parking distance control, rear traffic assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, and automatic post-collision braking.

The Atlas case is straightforward. It does not win on badge or on outright luxury, but at $41,610 it gives three-row buyers a fully equipped, Chattanooga-built SUV with a safety suite that many rivals still charge extra for. The question for shoppers is whether the four-cylinder refinement and the real-world fuel economy match the spec sheet, and whether the coming Cross Sport, with most of the same features in a five-seat body, is the better buy for families that never use the third row.
