The Last Manual V8 Sedan in America Is $6,275 Cheaper Than the Automatic, and Only 64 Manuals Were Left

America last new manual V8 sedan comes from Cadillac, and it starts $6,275 below its automatic counterpart on paper, before gas-guzzler tax. The 2026 manual starts at $100,695 including delivery, while the automatic and its required equipment reach $106,970. That $6,275 difference is $3,675 for the transmission plus $2,600 for Super Cruise, and the manual higher gas-guzzler tax narrows the gap to $5,875. An August 2026 inventory check found just 64 new manuals nationwide, and current-generation production ends by the end of calendar 2026.

The car is the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, and the lower factory-priced manual surrenders not a single horsepower. Its supercharged 6.2-litre V8 makes 668 hp and 659 pound-feet of torque, driving the rear wheels through a standard six-speed manual, while the optional 10-speed automatic gets the same output. Magnetic Ride Control, Brembo brakes and an electronic limited-slip rear differential are standard. CarBuzz estimates roughly 9,000 cars across the 2022 to 2026 run, including both transmissions, though that is an estimate, not a final factory total.

Collector details underline the scarcity. Cadillac V-Net records show just 74 CT5-V Blackwings wore Blaze Orange Metallic in 2022, about 4.2 percent of that year 1,763 cars across both transmissions, and the F1 Collector Series was limited to 26 cars, every one with a six-speed manual, with an upgraded supercharger lifting output to 685 hp. A 1,500-mile 2022 manual sold for $88,500 on August 14, 2026, against its $96,830 sticker. Cadillac has confirmed another combustion-powered CT5 for Lansing Grand River, but not a guaranteed 2027 arrival, V8 or manual, so waiting means betting on a combination Cadillac has not promised.
