On October 25, FAW Hongqi announced the official launch of the all-new Hongqi G919 luxury range-extended off-road SUV. The model is available in three variants, including one limited edition, with prices ranging from CNY 349,800 to CNY 429,800. The G919 measures 5,135 mm in length, 2,050 mm in width, and 1,950 mm in height, placing it firmly in the full-size off-road class that Chinese luxury buyers now expect to come with a range-extended powertrain rather than a conventional large engine alone.
Two days earlier, on October 23, SAIC Roewe announced the official launch of the all-new Jiayue 07 mid-to-large range-extended SUV, available in four variants with prices ranging from CNY 119,800 to CNY 144,800. The model was jointly developed by SAIC Roewe and Beijing Volcano Engine Technology, the technology arm whose name reflects the Chinese tech industry push into vehicle software and intelligence. The Jiayue 07 sits in the heart of the family SUV market, where range-extended powertrains offer electric driving for daily use with a gasoline range extender for longer trips.
The budget end of the week came on October 22, when Jetta announced the official launch of the all-new Jetta M6 battery-electric sedan, available in three variants with prices ranging from CNY 79,800 to CNY 99,800. Designed for families seeking new-energy vehicles, the M6 is the Jetta brand first battery-electric vehicle. The same week, renovation work for the VW316 project began on October 22 at FAW-Volkswagen Tianjin Super Factory, aimed at enabling production of that plant first battery-electric model. Together, the four items trace a single pattern: luxury, family, and budget segments all moving to electrified powertrains at the same time.
