Ford Reveals 2027 Mustang Mach-E Trail for Mild Off-Roading

By CARC Editorial Team · October 24, 2026 · 3 min read

Ford introduced the new 2027 Mustang Mach-E Trail on October 21, a package aimed at buyers who want mild off-road capability from their electric crossover. The company positioned it for active customers who need confidence on gravel and dirt roads rather than for hardcore trail use, and said the package will be available on the Mustang Mach-E Select eAWD.

The Mustang Mach-E Trail will be built at the Cuautitlan Assembly Plant in Mexico and is scheduled to begin arriving in the first quarter of 2027. Ford has not yet published full pricing or a detailed equipment list for the package in the initial announcement, but the positioning is clear: take the existing all-wheel-drive Mach-E Select and tune it for unpaved surfaces and outdoor lifestyles.

The move fits a broader industry pattern of carving smaller niches out of popular electric models. Rather than launching a separate off-road EV, Ford is extending the best-selling Mach-E line with a variant that speaks to weekend adventurers, a segment where crossovers with light trail ability have been gaining ground. For shoppers, the Trail gives a factory-backed middle ground between a standard electric crossover and a dedicated off-road SUV.
