Paris Motor Show 2026: The Debuts That Matter, From Kia Seltos Hybrid to a 700-Kilometre Mercedes Van

Kia led the European news at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, held October 12 to 18, with the European premiere of the all-new Seltos Hybrid. The second-generation Seltos is positioned in the fast-growing C-SUV segment and introduces Kia first electrically driven all-wheel-drive system, which engages the rear axle only when driving dynamics demand it. Kia also gave the K4 Hybrid its European motor show debut in hatchback and Sportswagon forms ahead of production starting October 15, showed its complete five-model GT family including the recently launched EV3 GT, EV4 GT and EV5 GT, and displayed the PV5 Passenger and Cargo commercial products. Kia is Europe fastest-growing top-10 passenger-car brand year to date, with registrations up 9.0 percent from January to August 2026 to a 4.1 percent market share.
Mercedes-Benz brought six show premieres rather than six fresh world debuts: the new GLA, the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45, the GLE, the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, the electric VLE and an updated S-Class. The VLE is the most interesting of the set, carrying up to eight occupants with Mercedes quoting more than 700 km of electric range, positioning it between large passenger cars and premium people carriers. Hyundai gave the new Bayon its world premiere, the new Tucson its European premiere with the Tucson N Line making its global debut, and expanded its electric commercial range with the Staria Cargo, whose 84 kWh battery supplies up to 450 km of WLTP range, with an 800-volt architecture supporting a 10 to 80 percent recharge in 20 minutes, a 1,040 kg payload and 2,000 kg of towing.
Elsewhere, BYD introduced its new flagship SUV, the Atto 8, with a choice of power outputs and rear- or all-wheel drive when it arrives in markets in the first quarter of 2027. Leapmotor headlined with the European premiere of the B03 urban hatchback, presented the flagship D19 SUV, and confirmed that production of the B10 has started in Spain. Jeep confirmed the Renegade will return by 2030, Cupra showed a Raval custom package by ABT after the Raval passed 50,000 orders since April 2026, and the Volkswagen Group had accumulated almost 150,000 orders across its four-car electric programme before the show opened. The through-line is unmistakable: Europe volume growth in 2026 is coming from hybrids and affordable electrics, not from flagship excess.
