Waymo Starts Driverless Airport Rides in Las Vegas at Harry Reid International

Waymo began offering driverless rides to and from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Pickups and dropoffs are at dedicated autonomous-vehicle zones on the Ground Zero Level of Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Access starts with current Waymo riders in Las Vegas, with the company saying it will gradually welcome more riders over time before opening to everyone. Riders can travel anywhere in the current 24-square-mile Las Vegas service area.
Las Vegas is a fast-moving robotaxi market. Public rides in the city only began in September 2026, and the airport is now the sixth major airport in the Waymo network, after Phoenix Sky Harbor, Nashville, San Antonio, San Francisco, and San Jose. Competition is already at the curb: Amazon Zoox already serves the airport, and reporting on the launch notes that Nevada regulators approved permits in August that will let Tesla and Uber put thousands of robotaxis on Las Vegas streets over the next year.
Airports are a revealing test for driverless services because they combine tight curbs, heavy luggage, flight-timed demand peaks, and passengers who cannot afford a missed pickup. A dedicated zone on a single level, rather than a general curb, is the practical compromise that lets an airport say yes without redesigning its terminals. If the Las Vegas rollout holds up through holiday travel, expect other airports to copy the zone model rather than debate the technology.
