Zoox Takes Robotaxis to Las Vegas Airport — Terminal Pickup, Right at Baggage Claim

Amazon’s Zoox is expanding its robotaxi service to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, with pickups and dropoffs at both terminals near baggage claim, according to reporting on October 19. The company started charging for rides on August 10, began testing in San Diego and Houston, and released its safety framework — the airport expansion is the latest step in a company visibly ramping toward commercial scale.
The airport move is a genuine competitive edge. Uber and Lyft can drop passengers at the terminal curb, but their pickups require a five-to-ten-minute walk to the upper floor of a nearby parking garage; Zoox’s cars come to baggage claim. Zoox is currently the only robotaxi company operating airport service at LAS — though more competition is coming. The Nevada Transportation Authority has granted commercial robotaxi permits in Clark County to Tesla, Uber and Waymo as well, which together would allow up to 8,000 robotaxis across the county over the next 12 months; Uber plans to run robotaxis through partnerships with Hyundai’s Motional and Zoox itself.
The scale context: Zoox has driven more than 3 million autonomous miles as of August 2026 and operates roughly 100 vehicles, offering paid rides in San Francisco and Las Vegas, with Miami and Austin next. Its commercial exemption allows up to 2,500 vehicles per year. Against Waymo’s ~4,000 robotaxis across 15 cities and Tesla’s Cybercab ramp, Zoox is the smallest fleet — but it’s the only one that will meet you at baggage claim.
