BYD is preparing to launch the all-electric version of the Denza N8 luxury SUV on October 26, Electrek reported. The N8 has been on sale in China since 2023 as a plug-in hybrid, and the EV version promises the same electric-only driving range as the PHEV managed on a full charge and full tank of gas combined. Denza calls it "the king of large 5-seater pure electric vehicles."
The headline number: 1,003 km (about 623 miles) of pure-electric range under CLTC conditions, from a massive 130.15 kWh second-generation Blade Battery, per a filing with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Powertrain choices include single-motor rear-wheel drive at 320 kW (429 hp) or 370 kW (496 hp), and a tri-motor all-wheel-drive version on BYD’s e3 platform — a 270 kW front motor plus two 310 kW rear motors for a combined 890 kW, or 1,193 horsepower.
Charging is the other headline. BYD’s 1,500 kW Flash Charging technology takes compatible vehicles from 10% to 70% in five minutes and from 10% to 97% in nine minutes. Inside, the N8 gets a 30-inch center infotainment screen spanning much of the passenger-side dashboard and a 43-inch panoramic head-up display. The SUV measures 5,150 mm long with a 3,075 mm wheelbase — full-size luxury territory at what BYD fans expect will be an aggressive price.
