Volkswagen Anhui will officially launch the ID. UNYX 09, its second model jointly developed with Xpeng, in China on October 24, 2026. The joint venture, in which Volkswagen holds a 75% stake, confirmed the date with a three-day countdown poster on Weibo. Pre-sales began September 24 with prices from 199,900 yuan (about $29,750) to 249,900 yuan. The model follows the ID. UNYX 08 SUV, the first product of the VW–Xpeng partnership, as Volkswagen expands its electric lineup in the world’s largest EV market.
The UNYX 09 is positioned as a sleek electric sports sedan with smart technology: a fastback design measuring 5,081 mm long with a 3,030 mm wheelbase. Both single-motor rear-wheel-drive (230 kW / 308 hp) and dual-motor all-wheel-drive (140 kW front, 230 kW rear) versions are offered, each with a 91.963-kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery with cells supplied by CATL. CLTC ranges are 755 km for the RWD version and 705 km for the AWD version.
The headline tech is the driver-assistance hardware: the UNYX 09 uses Xpeng’s Turing AI chip with 750 TOPS of total computing power. That is the partnership’s real story — Volkswagen brings the brand, the manufacturing scale and the dealer network; Xpeng brings the software and silicon that Chinese buyers now expect. Whether the formula works will be visible in October and November sales figures.
