Ford Recalls 41,748 Expedition and Super Duty Trucks Over Headlights That Can Go Dark
By CARC Editorial Team · October 27, 2026 · 3 min read
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2025-2027 Expedition vehicles and 2026 F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty, F-450 Super Duty, and F-550 Super Duty vehicles because their headlight assemblies may contain a contaminated LED chip. The chip can cause a loss of daytime running lights, parking lights, high beams, or low beams. The vehicles therefore fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, which covers lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment. The NHTSA number for the campaign is 26V606, and the Ford number is 26C43.
The potential number of units affected is 41,748. Dealers will inspect the headlight assemblies and replace them as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were expected to be mailed October 26, 2026, and vehicle identification numbers involved in the recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov the same day. That timing matters for buyers shopping used Expeditions and Super Duty trucks right now, because a VIN check will show this campaign immediately rather than months from now.
Drivers should treat any flickering, dimming, or dead lamp on an affected truck as a reason to book the inspection promptly, especially before night driving or towing. Headlight failures are easy to dismiss in daylight and dangerous after dark, and a free dealer replacement removes the usual reason to put the repair off.
