Honda is planning an affordable new electric crossover based on its 0 SUV concept car, with a global debut pencilled in for early 2027, according to reports published on October 29. The new EV will be built in India, reports say, and will slot in size between the HR-V and ZR-V. Honda itself is remaining tight-lipped around further performance details, so everything here should be read as reported, not confirmed.
On the reported specifications, the crossover will use Honda’s in-house skateboard platform and be available with either a 61 or 75 kWh battery, with a targeted electric operating range of up to 650 km. The 0 SUV concept it is based on features an angular profile with a raked windshield and low roofline, a black panel front fascia with pixelated headlamps, U-shaped taillamps, and a cabin with digital instrumentation, a central touchscreen and a front passenger display.
The price target is the point. Reports suggest the EV could enter the market below AUD 40,000, with Honda Australia director Robert Thorp telling Carsguide the company is aiming to position the upcoming EV as a more affordable model. That matters because it follows Honda cancelling most of its future EV plans to reassess its electrification strategy — a cheaper, India-built crossover would be the first evidence of what the reassessed strategy actually looks like. Until Honda confirms pricing, timing and markets, U.S. buyers should treat this as a watch item, not a shopping list entry.
