Lexus Recalls 68,356 NX SUVs for Blank Displays That Hide Vital Warnings

Toyota issued a recall on October 26 covering 68,356 Lexus NX, NX Hybrid and NX Plug-In Hybrid vehicles after owners reported blank instrument-panel displays, TopSpeed reported October 27. A blank screen can hide engine oil pressure, coolant temperature and electrical charge readings — the gauges that tell a driver something is wrong before it becomes a bigger problem.
The recall, filed with NHTSA under campaign 26V687, affects 2022–2024 Lexus NX250, NX350, NX350h and NX450h+ models equipped with a 7-inch combination meter display. The good news for owners is the fix: Toyota says it is free and requires no new part, just a software update at the dealer.
A blank display is easy to dismiss as an annoyance, but it is a safety defect precisely because it removes warnings. If your NX display has gone dark or flickered, do not wait for a letter — check the VIN at nhtsa.gov and book the software update. A car that cannot warn you about overheating or low oil pressure is a car driving blind in one important respect.
