Lucid Q3 Deliveries Fall 7 Percent as Production Plunges 38 Percent and the Inventory Selloff Begins

Lucid delivered 2,708 vehicles in the third quarter of 2026, down 7 percent year over year, while production plunged 38 percent, according to Electrek coverage of the company quarterly figures. Nine months into the year, Lucid has built 13,228 vehicles and delivered 10,852. The third quarter is notable for a reversal: deliveries beat production by 852 vehicles, working off about a quarter of the first-half pile, when Lucid built 3,228 more vehicles than it delivered.
The first-half surplus had a specific cause. In the first quarter, a supplier problem with second-row seats held up Gravity deliveries for 29 days while the factory kept running, and inventory on the balance sheet rose to $1.38 billion by the end of June, up from $1.11 billion six months earlier. Selling those cars is now the biggest piece of the operating reset Lucid management has described, which targets $1.4 billion in cash-flow improvements in 2026: roughly $600 million to $800 million from inventory, about $500 million from lower capital spending, and roughly $200 million from operating costs.
The contrast with Rivian, which delivered 19,248 vehicles in the same quarter, is stark, and it frames the question Lucid has to answer. Lucid says demand for the Gravity continued to regain momentum, but it does not break out deliveries by model and did not put a number on that momentum. Until deliveries grow faster than the inventory pile shrinks, Lucid remains a company managing its balance sheet first and its growth story second.
