Porsche Tells 548 Owners Not to Drive: Center-Lock Wheel Bolts Can Fracture and Let a Wheel Come Off

By CARC Editorial Team · October 27, 2026 · 3 min read

Porsche Cars North America is recalling 548 model-year 2024 sports cars because a center-lock wheel bolt may fracture and cause the wheel to detach, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The recall carries a do-not-drive warning: owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until a dealer has inspected the wheel fastening system and replaced any incorrectly manufactured parts. The campaign number is 26V682, and the Porsche number for the recall is ATA1.

The affected cars are all top-tier performance variants: 168 Carrera GTS models, 94 911 Turbo S models, 73 718 Cayman GT4 RS models, 70 718 Spyder RS models, 50 911 GT3 models, 41 911 GT3 RS models, 39 911 S/T models, and 13 911 Turbo models. The recall report says center-lock wheel components used in certain production ranges were manufactured out of specification and could fracture. This campaign expands a 2024 recall for the same problem, and reporting on the expansion says two additional field fractures in May and August 2026 prompted Porsche and its supplier to reopen the investigation and trace additional parts from the same material batch.

Dealers will inspect the center-lock wheel fastening system and replace any incorrectly manufactured parts free of charge. Vehicle identification numbers in this population became searchable on NHTSA.gov on October 20, 2026, and owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 15, 2026. Owners can also contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. If a car on this list is still being driven, the safest step is to stop and arrange a tow to the dealer, because a wheel separation gives no reliable warning and leaves no margin for a gentle failure.
