Ram Recalls 16,385 Ram 1500 Trucks Over Tire Pressure Monitors That May Miss Low Pressure

A subsidiary of Stellantis, FCA US, has recalled more than 16,000 Ram vehicles over an issue with their tire pressure monitoring systems, according to a recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The recall applies to approximately 16,385 vehicles in the 2026 Ram 1500 model, under recall number 51D. The problem is that the tire pressure monitoring system may fail to detect low tire pressure, or fail to illuminate the tire pressure warning light.
That matters because an underinflated tire does not always announce itself. Low pressure increases heat, wear and the risk of sudden tire failure, and a driver who is relying on the dashboard warning will keep driving a tire that is quietly deteriorating. NHTSA says the issue could result in tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash. Anyone with an affected vehicle can take it to a dealer, who will inspect and replace the tire pressure sensors as necessary free of charge.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on October 27, and owners can contact FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403 with recall number 51D. Owners can also check their VIN on the NHTSA recall database or search by license plate. This is a distinct campaign from the larger Ram 1500 rearview-camera recall reported earlier in October, so owners who already had one Ram recall addressed should still check for this one.
