Volkswagen’s ID. UNYX 09 Launches in China: 755 km of Range From About $26,800

The Volkswagen ID. UNYX 09, a five-metre battery-electric fastback sedan from Volkswagen Anhui, went on sale in China on October 24, 2026, in three trims. The Ultra costs RMB 179,900 (about $26,830), the Fully Equipped RMB 219,900 (about $32,800), and the dual-motor all-wheel-drive Max RMB 249,900 (about $37,300), according to launch coverage citing Chinese pricing. It is the second model Volkswagen Anhui has developed together with Xpeng, after the ID. UNYX 08 SUV.
The headline technical claim is range and charging speed: Volkswagen claims up to 755 km of CLTC range (705 km for the all-wheel-drive Max), 5C fast charging, about 250 km of range added in 5 minutes, and 10 to 80 percent charging in under 12 minutes. Those are Chinese CLTC figures, which are generally more generous than the US EPA cycle, so American readers should not compare them directly with EPA ratings. Series production began on September 24, 2026, the day pre-sales opened, at Volkswagen Anhui in Hefei.
The important caveat is availability: the ID. UNYX 09 is for sale only in China, and neither Volkswagen nor the outlets covering the launch mention an export plan. The car is framed as part of Volkswagen’s in-China-for-China strategy, and its sibling, the ID. UNYX 08 SUV, has already seen its entry price cut from RMB 229,900 at launch in April 2026 to a limited-time RMB 189,900 in September. For US buyers, the ID. UNYX 09 is therefore a signal about where Volkswagen’s EV pricing is heading — not a car you can buy here.
